Patek Philippe at Baselworld 2017

Baselworld 2017 is well underway, and for our Patek Philippe Client Relationship Manager Stewart Simpson, there is lots to be excited about. Stewart takes us through the latest releases from one of the world's finest watch houses.

5078G & 5178G - These minute repeaters are a beautiful addition to the Grand Complications collection. With stunning vintage-style enamelled dials, they complement a highly complicated and traditional watchmaking complication. In two different case sizes in 38mm and 40mm they are suitable for any wrist. The 40mm case version chimes the exquisite sound of the Cathedral Gongs which is a stunning sound.

 Patek Philippe 5078G

5131/1P - A rare handcrafted timepiece from Patek Philippe with a beautiful enamelled dial. Every edition of the 5131 so far has been incredibly sought after and this is no exception. The artistry needed to create the exceptional looking dial is of the highest quality. The cloisonné enamel centre is the highlight of this timepiece with the beauty and skill needed to create such a dial shining through. The addition of the platinum bracelet was a great choice and looks very smart, and will balance out the weight of the platinum case.

5170P - This complicated manual wound chronograph looks stunning in platinum with the combination of the blue dial. In my opinion this is the best version of the 5170 and one of my favourites of the Baselworld 2017 Patek Philippe launch. The baguette diamond hour markers finish the look. These worked beautifully with the anniversary Nautilus and continue to look fantastic in this beautiful complication.

5960/01G - I really like this new version of the 5960. The combination of the blue dial and brown strap looks incredible. This is a great rival for the 5524G pilot timepiece, both white gold and on a stunning calf brown leather strap. The 5960 has an exceptional annual calendar and chronograph movement (patented in 1996) and the aesthetics really do justice to this complicated movement.

5168G - The Aquanaut comes into its 20th year and we welcome the addition of a white gold model. We have seen the steel and the rose gold versions but it’s great to see the addition of white gold. Again the combination of the blue dial with a blue composite strap makes this watch incredibly wearable as a sports watch and an everyday wear. Again this is a highlight of the Patek Philippe 2017 launches and one of my personal favourites. The addition of colour within the Aquanaut collection looks stunning and provides a great option within the existing collection.

7140G - This ladies Grand Complication perpetual calendar is magnificent. It has a true beauty from an aesthetical standpoint with a classic perpetual layout and a beautiful diamond bezel to complement. This aesthetic beauty is rivalled by the marvel of having such a complicated mechanical movement in a case only measuring 35mm! I am very excited about the launch of this timepiece, bringing a grand complication to the market with a beautiful feminine touch.

 Patek Philippe 7140G

4899/900G - This ladies Calatrava Haute Joaillerie timepiece certainly caught my eye. The intricate engraved mother of pearl dial is entrancing and finished immaculately with the beautiful combination of diamonds and pink sapphires in the case. This was certainly unexpected in the Baselworld launch but really makes an impact. This would definitely bring a wow factor to any occasion.

 Patek Philippe 4899/900G

5320G - This is a very smart addition to a wonderful collection of Grand Complication perpetual calendars. The layout of the calendar on the dial is incredibly clear and with the Arabic numbers it has a sort of pilot watch feel about it. I think this dial on the perpetual calendar looks stunning but also gives the watch an everyday feel about it much like the pilot watch ref 5524. The 40mm case size gives it presence on the wrist but without being overbearing. This certainly looks different to the current perpetual calendars but I can see this model being very popular with this beautiful dial.

 Patek Philippe 5320G

5650G - I was blown away with this watch, it looks incredible and being a limited edition is an added benefit. These are very rare with only 500 being produced worldwide. This Aquanaut Travel Time is part of the Patek Philippe Advanced Research Department. There are two new innovations within this timepiece, one is a progression with the Spiromax balance spring and the other is with the compliant mechanism crafted from conventional horological steel. This is going to be highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

A message from Michael Laing OBE

Over the last 200 years, the Parkhouse name has become synonymous with luxury and quality. Parkhouse is also part of the Laing family and we feel that the time is right to share the values and vision under one name.

As a result, Parkhouse will be changing it's name to Laing in the near future. Don't worry though, we will still be stocking the same sparkling jewellery and finest Swiss watches!

Our Southampton store is also on the move! We are re-locating to Westquay in September 2017
